British philosopher Alan Watts once said, “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” Make sense out of the uncertainty that looms over an election year by joining the dance with the spellbinding, powerful cast of Houston Met Dance Company. Check out what they have been working on with today’s deal of a ticket to Houston Met Dance’s Signature Works, a $20 value, for just $10.
Held on Saturday, April 28, Houston Met Dance Company’s spring concert, Signature Works, will feature premieres and works from the repertoire that showcase the company’s signature technical virtuosity and progressive choreography. Works include two by New York-based choreographer Joe Celej, including the Houston premiere of Before All This and a musical number and audience favorite, Whatever Lola Wants, 2004, from Damn Yankees. Kate Skarpetowska, currently a dancer with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, provides two dramatic works for the company, including Stand Back, and the company will reprise her Tidal Intersections as well. The rest of the program will be made up by Caleb Mitchell’s Stirring Simple Gifts in Shades of Blue, Larry Keigwin’s flight attendant-inspired Air and resident choreographer Kiki Lucas’ Revisted, Rebound, and Returned.
